Victory for Plaintiff in Race-Discrimination Case SRBC's Ed Barshak recently won a decision before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination in a case involving racial discrimination against an African-American man who was not hired as an investigator by the Massachusetts Alcohol Beverages Control Commission. The victory came in spite of testimony and other evidence that the white persons hired instead of the plaintiff were hired not on the basis of race, but because they had relatives in the legislature. Upon appeal by the Attorney General, who represented the ABCC because it is a state agency, SRBC obtained an agreement for judgment in favor of the client.
